PHONES FOR LIFE ANNOUNCES
**HURRICANE KATRINA "EMERGENCY FEAR RELIEF" **
- Collecting cell phones at PENN SQUARE, Philadephia PA
- Monday September 12, Tuesday September 13, 2005
- 6:30 am - 10:00 am and 4:00-6:00 pm BOTH DAYS
- Permanent Collection Sites at 6 Philadelphia Police Detective Divisions (see p 2)
- Will accept all used cell phones -even if missing chargers or parts
- Will accept cash or funds to purchase additional cell phones ($1 = 1 phone distributed)
- Will distribute phones to displaced victims relocated throughout US and in Gulf Coast affected areas through regional offices of the aged and senior citizen services
- Instructions provided in English, Spanish and French
KATRINA EMERGENCY FEAR RELIEF - PHONES FOR LIFE
- Katrina Drives already in NYC (Penn Station, Grand Central Station, Port Authority Bus Terminal) and Los Angeles Union Station, University of Easter Michigan
- Katrina Emergency Fear Relief Drives yielded over 5000 phones for distribution (August 31 - September 8, 2005)
- Allows free calls to "9-1-1" emergency service at NO cost
- Provides access to emergency services in the event of safety or medical emergency
- Provides sense of security for Katrina victims during temporary relocations, while local phone and utilities are restored and stabilized, and when victims are allowed to return home.
